Default Platinum plugs

I just noticed on the Dodge website that the 2010 Hemi uses Platinum plugs. Same ignition system, why are they no good in our 06-08? Anybody actually tried them? I'm going to use NGK copper V-Powers, just curious about platinum plugs. They works fine in my old 5.4L I had. I know copper fires hotter, but platinum last 3 times longer.

not sure in the new ones, but never put a platinum plug in a magnum motor!

a salesman's buddy put some platinums in a hemi and within a few miles was having trouble pulling his trailer, and in 30 mi, it was running terrible.

I don’t know. I’ve had platinum plugs in my Hemi for about 3K miles now, and my engine is running just as good as it was with the copper plugs, if not a little better. I've yet to have any issues, knock on wood.

Platinum is only better than Copper in marginal situations. Copper is still a better conductor.

I believe the reason Chrysler is moving to Platinums is for "extended maintenance intervals" as they are like the only car maker that has 30kmi plug changes.
The newer motors are much different as well as the tunes so you really can't compare 06-08 vs 09+

Here's a good write-up for Platinum vs Iridium i found. http://www.a******ia.com/Iridium_Spa...ht20010101ds/1

I've had Autolite Double Platinums in my '06 Hemi for almost 5K miles so far.
Still running great at 35K miles.
