i replaced my g/y when i bought the truck or as i bought the truck they were wore real bad and so were the brakes i told them i needed new tires, brakes and a hitch and they had a deal i didnt have a choice i just told em i wanted a good tire and they gave me sumotumo htr sports and i know alot a people hate them they are a good street tire minimal wear for the year ive had them. only gripe i have is take off traction in rain but ya know here in fla every tire has that problem because of all the oil on the roads rise when hot and then add rain and its slick....other than that i like em when they do go bad i might go for a directional for better grip in the rain or even the coopers but i like a street tire cause i have a street truck.....

No I've never heard of a "Ply Rating" on a tire to be honest. I've heard of UTQG rating and Treadwear, Temp, and Traction rating. Now the compounds on tires and how hard a tire is will affect the puncture vulnerability. Ok so I read my last post and yes I just contradicted myself, I really just meant to say that "Punctures happen". It's not like you can avoid them completely.

I have 37k miles on my stock HP’s, and while they’re not the best tire, they’re not horrible. And I still have a decent amount of tread left on them, and they're still in decent shape. I’ve driven them through rain, snow and ice and never had any major problems. But then, I put some bags of sand on the bed for the winter, and I also have the auto 4WD, which helps a lot. That being said, I plan to get new tires in the spring, and I’m not going to get the stock Goodyear’s. But that is because I want to get wider, sportier tires. Which may sound like blasphemy to some on here, but I don’t do any off-roading. In fact, the closest I’ve come to off-roading would be driving through grassy fields a few times, and that was because it was being used as a parking lot.

I decided to go with Firestone Destination AT in stock size 275.60.20 only have a couple hundred miles on them but have already gone through 18.5 inches of snow here in KS with them and I have to say I am very very pleased.
