Might have to get some DR's
Anyone running a set if so what do you have?
Also got a question on tire size (Sorry gotta ask it) what tire size on a 17" rim would be comparable to a 305/50/20 (31.25" tall)? I can get some 17's cheap but dont want to remove the fronts if I dont have to.

I know there are a lot of people using them so there has to be some with the right weight rating (I had the same question). Most are on 17's and are 28" tall. Now from what I have read that is a great combo for those running a 4.10's but with my 4.56's a 31" tire would be better (or so I have read)
That's true, I have seen full size trucks with drag radials. I've never actually made it to the drag strip yet, but from what I've seen, with the stock size tires, you only get up to around 75-80 or so. So wouldn't having 4.56's with an around 27" tire be better? You would accelerate faster, and I don't imagine you would get up to top speed in a 1/4 mi.
Well as for weight rating, I doubt that he will be loading down the bed while running them.
As for using them at the track, out dragstrip treats them like slicks. You must have a driveshaft loop and open end lug nuts with long wheel studs.
BFGoodrich is my tire of choice but the tallest 17" DR I can find is just under 26". You need 15" to get a max of 28" in a 275/60 15 or 325/50 15. Both are over 2100lb rated so they work fine on a truck. Nitto 555's are the same as far as size goes, but they do offer a 275/40 20 and a 305/30 20 that are 28". You won't spin any of these mentioned.

15" rims wont fit on the truck. I was looking at the nt555r's but am not to sure how well they hook. Im also going to look at the hoosier slicks as well and see what they have to offer

I had a set of the Nitto 555Rs on my supercharged and bottle fed Cavalier. They like/need to be heated up big time to hook up. They weren't too bad on the street either. I know it is apples to oranges comparing a FWD to a RWD, but figured it was food for thought. Good luck, and keep up the good work.
