Default 04 1500 question

I am looking into another truck. I have always driven Fords but I ran across a 04 1500 4x4 Quad cab with 117,000 miles on the truck and less than 1000 on a new motor. The motor is a 4.7. The truck has leather interior and it is an automatic. The truck seems clean. I pull a 16ft trailer occasionally with four wheelers and once a year I haul a jeep. What are the thoughts on the truck? Thanks for any advice in advance. Also they are asking 11,900 for the truck.

Way too high and my guess is the original 4.7 blew due to sludge. A known issue with the 4.7 and poor maintenance! Tells me other areas of the truck were not kept up with. Diffs, tranny, transfer case, etc.

You'd be better served if you could find a Hemi. 100+ HP more than that 4.7 (and a Furd 5.4), while still getting about the same fuel economy.

In my area (south Georgia and central Florida) '04 and '05 QCSB Hemi 4x4s with decently low miles on them (80k <) are available right in that price range.

Don't know about your area though. You wouldn't be from Illinois would you? I had a guy get in touch with me not long ago asking my advice on him getting a 4.7 with a new crate motor, was an '04 QC 4x4 also...

Nope I'm from North Alabama. I did find a 04 with a HEMI pretty much the same truck but with HEMI and 99000 miles for 10,000.

I think that is way too high in price also. Sounds to me like they are taking KBB plus the cost and labor of a new engine

Dude, if I didn't love my truck so much, I'd probably sell you my 04 QC 4x4 with Hemi for about that price and I've only got 65k on mine. Price way too high for that truck. Somebody had to buy a new motor and is trying to recoup the cost.

Hemi will be much better for towing I think.
