Default How much for a extra key?

Well, now that I have the truck I might as well start with the questions. Of course the dealer waits till I'm ready to drive away to let me know that there was only 1 key. Just wondering what it is going to cost to get another one. Thanks.

Does it have the security system? If not, you can get a key at Lowe's. A fob will run you $15-$30 on eBay.

The build sheet says it does but the key just has lock/unlock and panic buttons.

You need 2 factory programmed keys in order to program any additional keys. Since you have only one key you will have to buy a new key and have the dealer use the starscasn tool to program the new key. I wouldn't have taken the truck off the lot until I got a 2nd key cuz now it's gonna cost a pretty penny. You can buy the blanks off the internet as the dealer will overcharge likeley.
I would make them get you a key. Atleast they should program it for free if you were to buy the key????

On my 06 magnum, I only needed one factory key to program a new one (not sure why you'd need two pre-programmed keys as you can only put one at a time in the ignition to do the programing and you don't need two keys to start it). I would assume its the same for the Rams, but can't say 100%.

That's probably just for the keyless entry. The alarm fobs require BOTH to add one.

A third one for my 300 cost $130 when I bought the car. $175 is 'bout right. The one for my Mazda was $140.

Here. scroll down the the Customer Learn method

Because you put one in and turn to acc postition and wait for lights to stop flashing, then you remove and insert the 2nd key. This puts the ecu into learning mode to program the third key!
