Default '05 overhead console temp.

Hello, hope someone can help. A few months ago I took my truck in to have the ****/part in dash that directs air flow repair. When I got my truck back the overhead temp console read 130 degrees. I they will not fix it so I was wondering if there was anything I can do before I take somewhere else? thanks for any help.

do a "hard reset"

fully disconnect the battery and touch positive and negative terminals together for a few seconds.

it drains the residual power. I had this same problem for about a year and when my battery went dead, it was a week before I changed it, and when I replaced the battery, the console read the correct temp. Others hear have suggested that touching the two terminals together for a few seconds does a hard reset and speeds up the process.

^^^It's true and it works. There was a thread about a week ago where his overhead read 35 and wouldn't change. he turned his lights on (don't know why) and disconnected the battery. Took the positive cable off and touched it to the ground terminal, and hooked it back up, good to go. Make sure it's the positive cable you're removing.

I have that same problem. My overhead temp gauge is stuck at 130 also. The dealer check it on there machine (I was next to him), the sensor was reading temp but the console wasnt. He said to check for new one at parts counter which is $190 but I rather look around 1st.

you can just turn on the headlights and unhook the battery for 1/2 hour. turning headlights on helps drain power...

Wouldnt I have to jump start it after draining battery? Or just disconnect battery for 1/2 hour? Then reconnect and crank

Disconnect the battery and take the positive (red) cable off and touch it to the ground terminal. Doing this will drain whatever power is built up within the system quickly. I've heard if you keep your battery unhooked overnight it will start working too, but I have no experience with that.
