Here in PA they get down and look too. I have been in the station a few times while they have been doing inspections and they get down there and check out all the parts looking for holes, missing parts, etc.

if you have annual inspections they most certainly lift up your vehicle to look under it. it's alwaysbeen common prectice to pull one wheel off to check the brakes and front end compnents that cannot be checked while on the ground.

I think in CT we go every 2-3 years for emissions, but the last time I went I didn't see them lift my truck up and check but I don't know for sure because maybe they just knelt down and looked under it. I don't know if I'm gonna weld the cutout now because I wan't to be able to take it off in order to be safe when going for emissions..

CT must not be as strict as NY for passing illegal vehicles...???
Much easier and quicker for a garage to just "take a peek" rather than go through a vehicle that doesn't pay jack. NY inspections are now $21 for emissions controlled vehicles and only $10 for non-emissions
Now if a garage has to put a car in the air and check all those things it can take up to 20-30min. $10 is BS pay, so maybe they take the easy way ut there?
NY sends undercover inspector agents to get inspections at various locations to stop illegal activities. They have their own "police" if you will.

I think EVERY state should be mandatory for inspections. I want to know that i can trust OTHER cars to have brakes and can stop and aren't gonna cause Me an accident or hurt me or my passengers. it's all about liability.
Time will come with this new US managment..I mean president.

Damn, it is cheap for inspections up in NY. About $75 a pop here for safety inspection and emissions.

Test fee here is 20 bucks

What do they make you do to get your sticker since you failed for tint? Pay a fine, pull off the tint?

prob just peel it off and repay for the inspection, BUT they could fine too.

They gave me the option to take the front tint off/trim the front windshield tint 1in shorter with a 15 day grace period w/ no money back....but I just took the lose of money and just took it to a low ball inspection place that passed it with flying colors.
