$300 is too much for some cheap plastic intake.

If toilet pipe is not your thing, then just get some aluminum pipe and some couplers and there you go. A nice homebrew intake for under $100.

I personally just bought the twin filter short ram off of ebay for like $70 and i've gained 1mpg and can tell a little more power not to mention the nice throaty sound it puts out. As for a tuner i'm still in debate. Boils down to what you want to pay for one. Good luck!

Diablosport Predator tuner with a K&N drop-in filter.
The BFI intake is way overpriced and doesn't make any more power that any of the others. You can only flow so much air thru the throttlebody anyway. If you had a large cam, ported heads and such, then you might see some noticeable gains.
The Vararam is the only true CAI that actually draws in air from in front of the truck.

My point is the inside of the cover is actually a nice smooth transition to the throttle body. So if someone wanted to buy a cheaper unit that only connected to the stock unit it wouldn't hurt performance that badly.
