Why didn't you get a diesel?
Extra 9 grand cdn to get a ctd in a 2010 ram 2500, no more hemi with a 6sp manual I was considering a new 2010 Ram 2500, but p on dodge for not offering the hemi with a 6sp, no way I'm paying 9 grand extra to get a manual ctd 2500 Ram.
My old Furd diesel was a stick, 1984 Furd F250 with a 6.9 in it. Cranked out a whopping 180 HP. But it pulled my bassboats all around the southern states for years with nary an issue. Not bad considering I bought it used in '93 with almost 170k miles on it. I'd only buy a stick if I were to get another diesel. Even the Allison transmissions used in the Duramax isn't gonna have the longevity and low cost of maintenance that a good old stick is gonna have.
Worst move I ever made was selling that truck for a brand new '97 Furd F150. I've posted enough on this forum about how that POS failed on me. But at least the '97 Furd engine dieing with only 14k miles on it made me a Dodge man!
But anyway, that was always my issue with getting a CTD with an automatic, the engine will last you through half a dozen transmissions...

Well, you can do what my buddy did when he purchased a new CTD. he bought a worked up tranny amongst a few other items the day after he drove the truck home and waited for the stock unit to kerplunk. It went out on the friday before Memorial day a few years back. He had the new one in before midnight that same night. My hero!
Pushing nearly 800rwhp through that beast everyday for his DD.
The only time I'd get a diesel was if I towed something heavy pretty often. The Hemi tows my 24' boat (5000 lbs +/-) just fine. If I had a bigger and heavier boat, then I would would go diesel. I saw no reason for the extra cost since I don't tow heavy trailers or long distances.
What is the reason Dodge quit installing the manual trans. with the Hemi ?
