How did you stand it being in DC? Were you at the puzzle palace or the actual base? DC is definitely somewhere I don't want to be stationed. Good luck with the drive!
How did I stand being in DC for 7 years?! It was so hard! I was at an actual base, not the huge puzzle. Are you AF? Where?
I think the next time the AF tells me to move I'm definately gonnna buy a trailer. Last time I rented a penske truck and towed mine with it. For what they paid me on the move, I could have bought a nice enclosed trailer and kept it in the end. Oh'well, live and learn. I did a DITY move because of what they paid per mile. Made like 4grand moving from NY to NJ.

Thats exactly why I am going to buy a flatbed carhauler trailer. I will have it for life and dont have to use one of those crappy u-haul ones. Plus, it cost more for a u-haul one way rental going from east to west then west to east. The nice thing is that the trailer counts as house hold goods, and when you add all my guns, ammo, wine , liquor and things that TMO wont move like chainsaw and mower, I should have a nice little partial DIY.

Just remember to weigh your truck loaded with a full tank of gas, and wait to fill it back up after you get your unloaded. I know water is 8.33lbs per gallon, not sure on gas but it's gotta be close.

I've moved twice now with the AF. I bought a 16' cargo trailer for $3k for the sole purpose of doing the move. I have more than the trailer will hold now, so its getting sold (for a $1k profit nonetheless). Because I owned the trailer, I pocketed almost 10g's from the full DITY. Its DEFINITELY the way to go
