Newbie again...

So, I got ahead of myself, and relied on information from a web site to select which muffler would fit my 2007 1500 Quad Cab/ Hemi.
I should have taken the time to measure the existing muffler

So after entering in the year, model, etc.. I was shown that this:
Magnaflow Satin Stainless Oval Body Muffler 12259
would fit my truck. Right... it's about a foot too short.

That being said, I would like to get a Magnaflow muffler (single outlet) , for my truck. Can any kind soul recommend which model Magnaflow would actually *fit*? I measured the existing muffler last night ( after cursing myself ) and it appears to be around 30" long.

you could always add more pipe to cover the missing length, thats how mine was done

 

Did you order just the muffler or a complete exh system? As matthew said, if its just the muffler then anyone will fit but if the one you have is too short as you said then just add the pipe and be done with it. Mufflers do come in all lengths and diameters and offsets

 

I just ordered the muffler. Is there specific pipe I should look for? coupling?

 

they sell pipe at auto zone and clamps to attach it. take your muffler in there and tell them what you are trying to do. you also need to measure they OD of the pipe you are attaching to! they will hook you up

Or take to exhaust shop and they can weld it on for you

 

if your doing it your self i would pick up however much you need + a few inches extra in the right size exhaust tubing and two sets of couplers some clamps and clamp it together unless your welding it up in which case a welder main thing is measure before you buy. sit down and figure out what size pipe you need what size couplers you need how much pipe before you buy it

 

You could go to a muffler shop and get them to make you one. Did the muffler come with a hanger? If not, I would think you'll have to get something fabricated for that too.

 

It'll cost you all of $60-75 to walk into a muffler shop and have them weld up everything for you, extra pipe, hangers etc.

On mine I mounted the muffler towards the back hangers and used pipe to make up the difference to the front hangers and just welded them right to the pipe
