Up from the grave it arose! Im pretty sure I was the first to do a cam swap using this DIY as my guide. I have no complaints about it, or any additions to make. Its really thorough and well thought out. Follow this DIY and you wont have any problems at all.

ok, i lied...i have one thing to add that i dont think is in there. After you change out the springs/pushrods and put the rocker arms back on, turn the crank over several times to ensure ALL springs are moving up and down. Not that I know from experience or anything , but it'll keep you from having to remove the valve covers after its all put back together to reseat a pushrod not sitting in the lifter

With the compression tester I have there is the gauge itself, the hose and an adapter. In our case with doing a cam swap you will not need the gauge. However, in the hose there is a valve stem that acts as a check valve. You will need to remove that valve stem. Then screw the adapter on the hose and into the spark plug hole (with no valve stem in the hose). Then connect the other end of the hose to the air line from your air tank/compressor. This will allow air from the tank to go through the hose and into the cylinder and fill it to keep the valve up.
If you don't have a compression tester, another thing I have seen done before is to take a long piece of 3/8 nylon rope and tie a knot in one end. Feed a couple of feet into the plug hole and turn the motor over by hand until the piston is packing the rope into the top of the cylinder. The rope will actually hold up on the valves and there is no way for them to drop at all. The knot in the end of the rope is to prevent feeding the rope all the way into the cylinder, then it's a PITA to get out. Just a FYI.

Another way to remove the Fan:
is with a chisel Put it on the left side of the flat.and hit it with a hammer.I do this if one has been on for a long time and is too stubborn to break free with only a wrench..
