an airplane? lol, if you mean radar jammers, I think they only work on the ancient radars back in the day. None of them work on todays technology

I don't know about where you live, but my dad used to be an Orange County Sheriff here in Orlando and EVERY one of their cars as well as Orlando Police Department are equipped with either radar or lazer. Also they have a new scanning system that automatically reads the plates around the car and will run the tags without the officer having to call it in or type it in the laptops they have in their car, look out driving on a suspended or if you have a warrant with the car tagged in your name.

gotta link? I'm pretty sure the FCC will not license a jammer. Can't imagine someone in the US willing to go to federal prison for manufacturing a radar jammer.

Yeah you need an FCC license to possess a jammer since it's a transmitter, as is a radar detector, if not you may be looking at a class B misdemeanor (depending on state) only for the jammer

ive got some cobra one, not sure why i still have it, dont speed anymore, costs too damn much in fuel. but i did notice that it will detect a cop sittin in the median or on the side of the road along way away. ive never got a ticket with it, but i also dont do alot of speeding. it was prolly more of a "need to have gizmo" than a actual use. it says 15 band, laser, and other stuff. goes off when emergency vehicles are around. but it randomly goes bezerk and scares the bejeesus outta me

ah yes, the scrambler. Their legal in some states since they don't "jam" the radar and is simply a receiver. The downside to their rebate program is that they don't refund the added insurance cost nor remove the points incurred! but yea, I'd be surprised if it was as effective as advertised but interesting none the least

Has that ever been the deciding factor whether or not they get a citation for you? (sorry im not tryin to put you on the spot or anything, just curious)
I had a previous bell sti driver. On the highways, like our transcanada, where there are lots of cars. They DO work, because officers are tagging car after car, and point the radar in your general direction, you will pick him up before he does you. Laser is kind of the same way, its a lot harder tho because they aim it low, and if you mount your detector high, usually you will not pick up that signal. IF at all.

now the detector that I am picking up (escort passport 9500ci custom install) is like 1700 CAD did I buy it for that much absolutely not. I got a WICKED DEAL! Anyways this detector is top notch, GPS database, undetectable to Radar detector detectors, and it has MK4 laser shifting.

Laser shifting I believe is the only thing that is going to protect you from Laser Guns. If you get the chance to pick up that laser signal then great but you have to remember that laser is very small, and your detector has to pick it up. So depending on where you mount it, totally effects how it detects. Laser shifting takes that laser and points it in different direction hense "laser shifting"
Cop aims laser at either front of the car or the license plate in the back. These things shift it to the ground. Thats really all your going to be able to get to get out of laser guns.

Lastly, cops now have POP radar. Known also as Instant-On. Some people say that it is totally undetectable for a radar detector. Radar detectors are now coming out with POP detection. Only new ones. I had my previous one go off using POP. Now I am not sure how sustainable this are getting. Supposedly and this is just a rumor, i would not bet anything on it. But in reality cops radar guns are usually always on, even on Instant-On ones. Although they are just on "Hold" until the cop pulls the trigger. Supposedly the new detectors are able to pick up a signal that still detects those guns when they are still in hold. That is just a rumor

BOTTOM LINE
Detectors are good, if you traveling with other cars, Usually the cop is trying to detect more that one person and if you are in that line of cars you could potentially pick that up miles down the road (as I have) but it depends on your detector and how you mount it.
Technology has not been current enough to save you on lone roads by yourself. You will be able to lower your speed a little, but usually not get out of a ticket You have to think about deer in the headlights, the cop can see your headlights coming from miles but you wont be able to see him until he dings you. MAYBE the new detectors are going to be betting in predicting POP radar. But I guess thats something we will have to see. Someone is working on it

Just remember to check if they are legal in your state or province...and remember that usually cops will not give you any le-way in ripping up a ticket when you have a detector....:S

Hope this long message helps, its kinda from personal experience
