Radar Detectors
But from what i understand, once you see laser go off and slam on breaks your already phucked cause they already had the signal....but lets say the car in front of you is getting laserred, will your detector go off? or is it only if its directed at your car?
Beware of following the rabbit, Alberta Sheriffs on highway 2 between Calgary and Edmonton have three to four cruisers parked in the medium or on top of hills or at bottom of hills.
And range road 285 near conrich, East of Calgary on a brand now paved highway, 80 km speed limit, has the Alberta sheriffs, RCMP and a frew Municipal dumb ***'s running gang ho, Alberta Sheriffs also patrol glanmore trail to highway 8 in Calgary and have a sub office in the ogden industrial area, near Tim Hortons on Barlow trail.

Thats one of the reasons why i got a radar detector, they sit on the top of hills or sit right where the 100 to 80 sign is and ding ya...plus they have stopped me doing 119 on the number 2! Saves a lot of time and stupid pointless po pos who think they are cops. Plus they dont look at the situation.
RCMP are soo much better!
If cops are using radar you can usually detect them depending on where you are...lasers are much harder to get away from is all that it comes down to.
Thats why here in alberta everything is legal so i spent a couple hundred bucks on everything. All i have to do is the nasty install, should not be hard. And i will be *******ly untouchable *knock on wood*
I don't see much laser here, when i do they are on the other side of an on ramp to the highways. so i just make sure im doing the speed limit when i go by there :P
But i can do that here...
For all those places where its illegal, well...try and hide it and hope the cop doesn't look! HAHA or just dont speed....
If they are using radar yeah yours might go off but if they are using Lidar no because lidar is a single beam and it literally has to be aimed at what you want it to read. There's a nifty little "scope" on top of it. If your surrounded by a few car's though and they are using radar they can't pinpoint which car their reading so TAILGATE!! JP.

(for those slow people out there that was from a nice movie called smokey and the bandit! it was epic in the movie.)
i have a passport 9500i too and they do work really good i have had it for about 2 years and havent got a ticket with it i use to drive fast (90- 106 on highways) but now ive slowed down alot i run the speed limit ............ and it picks up the radar from a long way me and my bro was going home about 100 mile out i was following him and my radar detector was pick them up before his and i would call him on the two way and tell him neither of us got pulled over ..... he has a chevy with a chip no speed limiter and i was doing the turn the key backwards trick so the limiter was off and never got pulled over passed about 5 cops all radaring............ he had a cobra and i had the passport
I have the Escort Passport 8500 X50... it's 4 years old now, maybe 5. I actually use it as a deterrant for myself. Generally when I have it on, I tend to drive slower because I'm paranoid that it won't catch them early enough.
Obviously my brain works in strange ways.
I generally don't bother in town because of all of the other alarms and security systems which will set it off. I like it on the interstate, and as others have said, it's more useful with multiple cars around you. It has saved me several times.
