Cold Air Intake - My style - with Pix
Sorry, the DWV stands for Drain, Waste, Vent. This is the function and what plumbers use it for. It is made out of PVC. ABS is also plastic, just a different compound. In today's houses you normally see PVC, copper, CPVC. Some older houses will have copper, black pipe (the black metal pipe), galvanized (galvenized metal pipe), grey poly (bad stuff, if you have it plan on replacing it as there was a class action law suit that most people didn't know about), ABS, and a few other things. Be sure to use the appropriate glue to piece it together. Good luck with it and post some pics when you are done.
My truck has been on order for about 10 weeks. In light of my long wait the deraler threw in a brand new complete Mopar cold air intake. I will post PICs after I pick-up the truck and get it installed.
My total cost for everything but the straight ABS tubing and K&N filter was $10.00 (Included sweeping 90 degree L bow, ABS glue - small can, thick rubber universal 3.5" connector and plastic strapping - 25 feet). I had the straight pipe already. Add $50.00 for the filter and whatever for the straight pipe. I'm slow, it took me about 1 1/2 hours for everything.
In answer to to "Where did I connect the air hose?" - I did not have an air hose to my standard filter or intake. On my 2003, it is on the engine. I attached a picture. With ABS it should be fairly easy to drill and tap a hole for an air hose.
Anybody get the cover that goes over the K&N Filter which acts like pre-filter for big crap? I hate to spend any more money but I can see where all sorts of rocks and bugs can collect on the filter without it. Will a rip stop or plain breathable nylon bag work? Any suggestions?

i did the same thing with my RT when i first got it because i couldnt find a CAI...once i found one reasonably priced, i took my home made piece off. so long as you are going for function and not form, the homemade CAI is hard to beat.
nice work!

Hey Guys,
To the ones reading and replying to this site i might an be of help to some one in the market for a custom 3 inch air intake. The piping and fitting is welded stainless steel with insides polished to a mirror finish. The outside of it can be polished also. I have had one on my dak r/t for about 4 years now. I run a K&N 3 inch inlet cone filter made for imports. I also just used a 3 inch cpvc rubber coupling to attach it to the air bell. I have two possibly for sale one with a sweeping 90 and two straight runs or one with a 90to 45 turn down to get it over the fender well towards the lower part of the bay. If any one is interested give me a holler. Oh yea i am a pipe fabricator for a high purity company so i can pretty much build anything within reason.

Make sure you get up under the hood after you take off the original air filter with the 90 Lbow and your tape measure. I measired three times before I cut once and still made one cut over again to get it JUST right. Take into account how far the straight pipe goes inside the 90 Lbow. Did you get a 3.5" rubber connector? And oh yea - have fun.
this is what i got so far
rubber 90* and 2 ft worth of the tubing. i also have the coupler and this little nifty thing for the Iat sensor tube thing.
also at my dads ranch we setup the irrigation system, huge 4" = 6" tubing lots of glue. and yes i know how to cut tube and take in account of all those things
