Even without the GPS antenna, it will work for radio and cd's, just the nav won't function correctly. The PITA is installing the antenna under the dash. You can find updated Nav DVD's all over. Definitely shoot for the the RB1 if you can get it. I would have but it doesn't play MP3's (which is why I went with the RAH and a TomTom).

So the navigation feature won't work in cars that didn't have it from the factory or nav won't work if you don't get the gps antenna?

Won't work without the antenna. Antenna needs to be plugged in and installed. Whether the vehicle originally had it or not has nothing to do with it.

Thats what it sounds like to me... besides you need to have the satelite antenna too. The other question is, is the factory Nav. any good? Or should I just go with a after-market?

Can't help you there. I wanted the ability to play MP3 CD's, which neither RB1 or 4 do. There ARE lots of aftermarket options that will work.

I have the RB1. Installed it in my truck. Works great. All you need is the antenna and the NAV cd. It has a full map display, turn by turn nav, and it talks to you through your speakers. I love mine. only thing that sucks is you have to have the CD in during nav.

Only reason I didnt get a newer model is because i wanted to keep everything stock and original looking.

The Rb1 or rb4 WILL work on your ram. Just plug in the harness and antenna.
good to go.

I installed the RB1 into my '03 Dodge Ram. It's a plug and play. It's a pain to run the gps antenna, but it's worth it. If you have the option, make sure the last two letters on the part number end with AH or AI on the RB1. My part # is 56038629AI. Mopar has an ipod kit that is compatible with those suffixes. I just added the ipod kit a couple of days ago so I could play music from my iphone. I also have the factory sirius installed. I noticed so far that everything works, but to switch from ipod or satellite, you must go back to am-fm, then go to cd-aux. Every other switching will bring up the satellite or the ipod. You can't switch directly by hitting the cd-aux. Otherwise, it works great. I installed everything myself, as my truck originally came with the RBQ.
