No the mega cab dually is 6 ft.

Someone on DT told me that the drive shaft would have to be adjusted hold on.

I have done it on a ford and it is very easy you will need to have your driveshaft made. Parts list is as follows complete axle disk / drum 2 spring perches for the axle. and all brake lines and drive shaft
You could do it but....... you'll need a new driveshaft. Leafs are also different sizes so you might have to put 3500 springs on your 1500 which will require new mounts. You will also HAVE to add clearance lights and outside marker lights since your width will be over 80 inches. You will also need to take into account of gearing in the rearend. The 3500 axle probably has 3.73 which you wont have in your 1500.

In short, its not a direct swap.
Rear axle upgrade isn't such a big deal. I have a 1 ton in mine. Springs/shackles, shocks, gears, driveshaft. I bet you could do the whole thing for $2000 if you were thrifty and patient. The only tough part is making the speedo work right. Assuming you use a late model Dodge rear end i would guess the speed sensor would be the same...
and the least helpful but funniest

It can be done... the truck on Death Race was a 2004 1500 Dually... with an 06 front ed too. lol

Get a Megacab bed, those ones are shortbeds.
I have also thought about doing this, but I would get a 2500 with a Cummins. I would do that to keep it functional, and have a shortbed dually. I like the dually look also, but in a short bed it looks so much better to me.

heck of a lot cheaper than buyin a real dually just for looks... i think its a pretty cool idea since he's not gonna use it for increased hauling capacities. +1 for ingenuity.

If you're gonna do it, just make sure it doesn't turn out lookin' like this fine piece of work. hahaha

I'm just kiddin' ya. I'd like to see this done though. I'm pretty interested. Good luck.

I agree with AF this is a cool idea, to have the look of the dually, but the functionality of a 1500.
If the 1500 is meeting your needs but the look is what your after, then a couple grand is a much cheaper option!

+1 that furd is fugly!!!

Go for IT! No one has it, and if you tow a trailer its more stability. Just make sure it turns out good. I would call that mega cab long bed conversion shop and ask them what is involved because they do stuff like that switch axles, and all that.
