Well, it is usually just as cheap to replace the whole thing that way the compressor is as fresh as the clutch. Would be a waste to replace the clutch then lose a bearing in the compressor shortly after.
Standard copper core plugs are required.

I would also have a qualified tech recharge your system after you install the compressor.
Remember: Do not turn the A/C on without getting it recharged or you can burn up the bearings.(leave the pigtail unplugged at the compressor to be "idiot" proof.
i say have a qualified tech because they have the machine that dumps the right amount of r-134a with the EXACT amount of oil needed in proportion the the coolant. Those do-it-yourself cans will get you close enough to operate, but it will not be beneficial in the long run as it would be much less reliable and could burn-up a compressor or not cool properly.
I wouldn't worry about going through replacing seals unless it's a piece that you take apart in the process. Otherwise, leave be.

One would hope that the low pressure switch would keep it from coming on until charged, but yes, make sure a proper vacuum is pulled before adding oil and refrigerant before turning it on.
