Default Are my Shocks bad?

As some of you know from previous posts i just made a long haul across the US with my truck. I drove from MI to NM with a 6x12 trailer loaded top to bottom and my bed full as well.
Since taking the trailer back im noticing a weird low toned rubbing noise when going over even the smaller size bumps in the road. It also seems to be getting noticably more bumpy over the last few weeks.
Im wondering if the weight and the long drive may have done my shocks in.
The truck has roughly 40k on it.
any indications i can look for to verify the problem?
thanks!
-Scott

You can always pull a shock off and collapse it if it doesn't rebound its bad.

Push down on all 4 corners of the truck (1 at a time), if it bounces - then you have a shock problem. Good shocks, it will rebound once.

I think disconnecting one side of a shock and compressing it is a better tale than bouncing the truck. However if you bounce test it, Have someone really push down on the truck and look for no more than 1 bounce.

LOL, while I agree replacing the shocks is a nice upgrade, it might not solve the rubbing noise. Does it sound like maybe something needs to be greased? Can you tell if it's coming from the front or rear?

the bushings in your shackles could make that noise, they could need a good "greasin". see if you can get someone to shake the truck in park, and while there doing that... you could be under it looking for where the noise is coming from.
