ABS Module replaced-Now "Check Engine Light" is ON
OK.... Not sure what happened but I'm getting the ABS and Break lights on. Scanned for codes, none to report. Did a road break test above 40 MPH and all four wheels lock-up, still no codes. Followed the FSM (factory Service Manuel) and it points to the ABS-Module being bad. I even checked the ABS-Motor with a 12VDC and the motor ran just fine. Ordered a new ABS Module by VIN, installed and now I getting the Check Engine Light (Code U1412) with no MPH speed showing on the dash cluster panel. Put back in the old ABS Module now I have my MPH speed back but still have no ABS. What the heck is going ON!

Did you drive it with the new module installed? Or reset the PCM after installing it? My daughter's car went nuts over the ABS when I disconnected the battery to install an ipod adapter and then reconnected the battery. The fix for that was some weird combination of turning the wheels all the way left and then all the way right and turning the ignition to on. Guys on the Mazda forum told me it would have also worked to just drive the car a little and it would have fixed itself. Not sure if this is related to what you are experiencing or not.
Answer:
The ECU will need to be flashed and even if you ordered it vin specific, it needs to have the vin programmed in. Until that happens, no ABS, or speedo because that runs through the signal processing of the ECU.

First error light probably not related to my real concern: passenger seat air-bag light will intermittently come on if there is not weight in the seat. I can press on the seat and the light goes out. I will assume that is a sensor under the seat that is intermittent. That light has not been on for a while.
Last week during a cold snowy day the error light for ABS / Break light came on. It went out later in the day. I assumed it was because it was cold and snow was affecting something. I did look at the break fluid level it is just below maximum line (8/10th full).
Today the light came on again but this time the speed odometer is stuck at 35 MPH.
I really like the fuse panel location under the hood. I am getting a little old trying to pull fuses from under the dash.
If someone got some suggestions please post them out.
Thanks

There's been a few people talking about this. Their answer was the speed sensor in the rear axle had either gone bad or got too much moisture in it. Check out this thread. I posted a few other links in it to the problem it sounds like you're having.

Thanks I will look at the links closer tonight.
I am new here so I forgot to say the truck that I have.
Six months ago I got a V6 2005 Dakota Truck.
With the key off the gauge will be zero as soon as the key is turned on it will jump to 35 MPH and will not move at all until turning off then back to zero.
I can almost assure you it's the speed sensor. Also, there is a Dakota section on here that you could probably get a little better advice. Here's the link:

Drove down my residential street going slow around 15 MPH.
Simi aggressive stop at a stop sign no change.
Second stop sign normal slow stop and both the speed odometer started working and the ABS/Break light went out. I believe the Auto-Zone gives free access to there diagnostic equipment to read codes. So when the errors happen again I will go straight to Auto-Zone to see if they can read it.
