Default Fuel Mileage

Before you tell me to search and say there are a bunch of fuel economy threads already, I know. But here is my question and I think it is a little different.

How do you HEMI guys that claim to get 17+ MPG actually get that good of mileage. I mean I understand that if you are really gentle with the go pedal that it is possible, but I hust have too much fun getting on the throttle and hearing that HEMI. Does this wear off over time or what, because it is just soooooo much fun not getting good mileage and feeling the power.

So how do you do it?

What you said + MDS helps...

I get 18 give or take highway at 68 MPH on an 05 no MDS and 4x4...

Just accelerate gradually...don't get stupid running light to light

Wheels/tires can make a difference..

Proper Alignment

Regular maintenance (Oil/Plugs/Wires/ALL filters)

Programmer can be huge...

12 in town for me (+/-).

The only way I have seen get better overall is to keep the RPMs below 2000

That is my thoughts, I bought the HEMI to use the power. I am getting a little over 12 now and I have winter tires on it (Hankook I*Pike) so I don't think they are helping the MPG. I also have not went on any road trips yet either, I have only had the truck for a little over a month.

I just cannot figure out how some people report 17+ (unless it is highway) and still enjoy the power that the HEMI has to offer.

Anyway, enough typing for now, I'm going to play in the snow.
