Default Prepare to laugh: Brake question: HELP!

Aight dammit. I'm trying to order some brakes for my Ram on Advance's website. They have a $30off $150 promotion, plus free shipping, so Im trying to capitalize.

What are the differences between shoes and pads? I see some that say "Brake pad set", shows four pads, but the description says "location:rear". So, apparently I need pads for the rear, shoes for the front? I'm looking at the ceramics, just cause I hear they're better about the brakedust. Any help is great, I want to include these in the bill.

They also had the 5qrts + filter for 27.99, Mobil 1. So I got 2 sets of those, for both trucks. (+1 extra apiece) and 24 NGK's. Couldn't find jack for pcv's . Im a noob, lol, prolly just not looking in the right places.

And does it sound right that both motors (4.7/5.7) have the same oil filter part #'s? I looked'em up for each vehicle, just making sure.....

NO purolator's for either motors, according to this site???

The only shoes on the truck are for parking brakes. You have disc brakes all around and therefore need 4 sets of pads. The reason they seperate them front and rear is because the fronts are bigger if I remember right. For the PCV, you are gunna want to get it from Rockauto.com. No one has one in stock or in the warehouse around me and I just bought mine from rockauto today. Bought it around noon, they shipped it 4 hours later.

AIRTEX Part # 6P1279 is the PCV you want (you dont have the flex fuel right) and only $26 shipped.

Haha no problem. Just checked and both engines accept the same oil filters. Also, the part number is the same for the PCV. But yea, if you ever need to look up a part or cross reference, Rockauto.com is the place to go.

Not all of the trucks have 4 wheel disc brakes do they? Many of them have front discs and rear drums dont they? I guess just check, Im assuming you have already though.

Yeah, she's got all 4's. I have a squeaking when I come to a slow stop, guess they're getting to that point..... annoying as hell, I know that much. I tried to peek through the wheels to see how much pad is left, couldn't get a good look at'em.

Advanced doesn't carry ceramic fronts, just the rears, doesn't make much sense, but then again, what the hell do I know? Haha

They all have disk brakes on all four corners that I've seen. Inside the rear disk are a set of shoe pads for the parking brake. Yeah, the larger pads are for the front, since and don't quote me on this you do 70% of your braking with the fronts. Make sure you have your rotors checked too. If they're even a little out of round you're gonna blow through those new pads in no time.
