Default Tuner?

I know there is a sticky for chips and whatnot...I have been reading it little by little but its getting to the point where it is soo long that its just hard to come to a conclusion

I have my 07 Ram 1500, and am looking between a tuner and a chip. I think I am heading towards a tuner. Now my question is what would be the best to go with. I'm looking more for fuel economy at the moment, maybe one that does a little bit of mileage and a little bit of performance? I know some of you are running them so I am just looking for a general conclusion. I like the idea of having a tuner to be able to run codes and such. As well as be able to turn off MDS when I am pulling and such. Now how much do these tuners actually do. Like would it be an ON/OFF for the MDS or could you tell it to turn on after a certain speed? Or even when you are not using a certain about of horsepower?

Just looking for a conclusion...Thanks all

My 03 is no longer fully supported by the latest updates, but I like simplicity and the response I got from my SuperChip 3865. But there are several schools of thought here. I recommend keep reading and asking questions on the various threads. I certainly wouldn't recommend a chip.
Good luck

Diablosport Predator. Works great in the Hemi Ram. I love the added power and economy that can be had.

The 03 is a transition model and the trans was changed in the 04. The SC transmition controls (upgrade) exclude the 03 model. Apparently not worth investing their programers time and money into the single year represented by the 03 model. The is a long list of posts that cover the newer upgrades as they were coming out on the SuperChips thread.

For an 07 and no plans for a cam or heavy or big mods, then I would do the SC3865

alright....well i dont know if this was the best thing i ever did...but i was checking all over calgary for some aftermarket truck parts. Found a good place, however their internet site was not the best as it did not tell me their prices. Went there to check it out, and the guy over the counter sold me a Bully-dog GT Gas tuner for 200CAD. Its a regular 550CAN. I have not installed it yet, probably today or tomorrow, but its pretty much plug and play. Its got a heads up display, as well as an OBD II reader, and PCM re-setter. Plus it incorporates more options into a dodge. I can turn off my driving lights, seatbelt chime, all that fun stuff by the touch of a button.

I will see how it works anyways

Thats sweet, I really would like a heads up display as well. Hopefully we will find out if it is a good buy and increases your HP like you want.

well its been tested on my trucks, it supposedly seen a gain of 25 HP and an increase of MPG by 5-6. Thats under perfect conditions. So I will see how it works, the heads up display could be nice. Especially the fact that I am going to be able to turn off my DRLs, seatbelt chimes. Its also got that driving coach thing, so i will see if I use that or not :P
