Default anyone buy tires at Sam's club with out the warranty ??

I went to Sam's club today to get some new tires, but the tire center manager said they are not allowed to put any larger tires than are specified on trucks, only the same OEM size tire on any vehicles....you can bring in just the rims but it will not come with any warranty, neither the Sam's club 4 year warranty or not have any manufacturer warranty....WTF ?? ...for my truck the size is 245 and I want bigger tires on there, either 265 or 285

here is the rub, I need to buy the tires at Sam's cause I have a store credit only for the amount of $ 282, can only be used by me, so the bottom line I have to get the tires there ....

I have a couple of questions :

first...... is this B.S, I asked for the mgr, and he said he was the tire center mgr ??...keep making calls or going over his head ??

their price is about $ 30 cheaper per tire than most places local and ordering on line and I would not have to pay shipping even if I special ordered something not in stock ?

I guess this is the main question ?

would you guys buy these tires , without any warranty ??

...BTW it's between Goodyear or Michelins

That sounds like a load of crap to me, BUT I would get the michelins and not worry about the warranty, you wont need it. excellent tire, and last FOREVER!!!

Sounds about right. They are really picky. Plus, if you get the tires from anywhere except sams club, they will not mount and balance them for you.

Also, a lot of time shipping is cheaper than sales tax when you are buying tires so don't forget to factor that. I saved $150 by having my tires shipped rather than going to a local place.

I might be able to clear up a few things to have you guys understand...

even if I use the Sam's web site, it shows for my year, make and model 2 different options, one being the 265's, which to me would be fine ....I have sent an e-mail inquiry off to Sam's and will post their reply.....I think its total B.S......I can understand liability, that they do not want to take responsibility for some joker putting 305 on a VW golf ....

but if I had special ordered these tires due to the site's recommendations for size, and then find out they will not install them, but I can still but them without a warranty....I would have spent time shopping elsewhere, I need to use that store credit soon as I do not plan on renewing my membership.

If their own website says that you can use those tires, I can't imagine why they wouldn't install them. If anything, they would be forced to refund you if they gave you the wrong tires.

I wouldn't worry about, just buy them through the site and the guy installing them won't know anything other than what the piece of paper says on the order slip.

Wow! I feel honored to be the poster of a quote in a sig now! lol sorry to the OP but I saw it and couldn't stop myself. I don't want this one getting off topic like the other thread so I'll just leave it at this. As for your issue Sam's club is basically in my eyes Walmart on steroids, I wouldn't buy from Walmart therefore I wouldn't buy from Sams.

the other one got OT, cause I asked for passenger tire recommendations and everyone wanted to tell me what off road or AT tires I should get,
some of the replies were of posters showing me their own tires and not even close to my tire or rim size ??

Definitely go with the Michelins. They are great tires that last a long time.

I always buy tires from Sam's club. Can't beat their price on BFG tires. Never had an issue.
