440 in a 3rd gen?
Sounds like a great idea to me!! But isnt a 440 an "RB", not a "BB"?
Anyways, I have a bunch of leftover and extra parts from my 451 stroker. 509 cam, some lifters, alot of other stuff. Not sure exactly what I have, or wht you need, Ill have to go thru it. But Im not too far from you, about 10 miles south of Fox Lake.
Let me know, Id like to get some of this stuff to someone who could use it.

Why would you want to take a step back in technology in your newer truck it would be a real bag oh **** to drive IMO especially a non OD trans in a DD vehicle. Pass. Toss it in the 83 as a fun cruiser that can light it up at lights and track.

440 with a 727 behind it is bulletproof. Go for it, I'd love to see it. There's so much you can bolt on to a 440 for more power.
And i wouldnt say a 727 is "a step back in technology" seeing as how many of you have detonated your 3rd gen automatic tranny's...

Two different things. A step back in technology is going down the highway at like 3000 rpm or more unless you gear the rear right up sacrificing acceleration. I dunno electronic control and an overdrive (or 2) makes driving so much better.
