Default thinkin about sellin the truck

so im thinkin about sellin my truck.
i just recently lost my job and im in school (drafting/engineering & firefighter/EMT recruit(which pays)) but this is taken time. im only getting like 13mpg. however money is not really the issue, im just ready for something new, maybe a newer model. idk, i normalyy i say **** on ford but the new raptor is really appealing, but i have always liked chevy....but the new dodge is a badass truck too...idk what to pick should i sell or keep what i have?
the biggest issue is how much should i ask for my truck, i know trade in value sucks and i know it varies depending on where you live but i would like an idea

its a 2005 ram 1500 slt 5.7l 2wd
power seats, windows, locks, sunroof, sliding rear window, leather, keyless entry w/remote start(viper 5101), flowmasters, new tires...

any input would be greatly apprieciated..

Buying a new truck or trading is certainly not going to help with the money situation. IMO keep your truck if you can afford it now or go to something smaller like I dunno a mid size car for the time being. No need spending money you may or may not have especially without means of income. I dunno just what I think.

-moneys not an issue, my job was just part time but i have always saved since i was a kid, christmas birthdays work everything. my truck is paid for, paid cash. and yea i lost/quit my job but thats no biggie, that was cause i dont have time to work and go to school, and i get paid while i train so i really didnt lose anything, i was just thinking this might be the time to upgrade, i hear the newer models are more fuel efficient, and i got the ram when i turned 16 and im 19 now so...
-and i go to athens tech for the drafting/engineering and im in recruit school for hall county..

My thoughts are if you want something fresh, buy it if you can afford it. IMHO, there is nothing cheaper to own than a paid for vehicle. If you are just bored, put something new on the truck.
Good luck.

i can afford it, i was just thinking it might be an investment, the ram is pushing 75,000 and its 5 years old, i really just want a 4wd, better gas wouldnt hurt but its hard to mod a 2wd.

If you don't haul anything and you want a 4x4 with better mileage, buy a Jeep. They are fun to drive and with the right mods will go through about anything you throw at em.

Then get what you want! It's your money buy the raptor if you can afford it. But you are sending mixed signals here. You are bi*chin' about gas mileage and you are talking about going from a 4x2 to a 4x4. I got a buddy whose got a rich grandma and he gets anything he wants. He had to have a Raptor when they came out, showed it off and bragged about how much better it is than EVERY other truck on the road. He paid $3500 OVER sticker because of limited supply and supposed high demand when it came out.

Now he's bi*ching it don't have near the power his '05 Ram had so he's going to trade it for a 6.2L Raptor as soon as he can get one.

He's getting about 12 mpg with it in mostly 55 mph country road driving, so be prepared for worse gas mileage...
