Door ajar is a single chime. The key in the ignition is the continuious chime that pisses me off. Still looking....

From my understanding the key-in-ignition works in conjunction with the door ajar switch. When the key is inserted, it grounds out and doesn't stop beeping. Wish I just new where the speaker was.

I am thinking we really don't want to totally kill the chime as it alerts us to many different events. But if we could defeat that damn key it would make me happy.

yea after more looking, the instrument cluster has a "tone generator" built inside it so no "speaker to cut". You can disable the tone generator by disabling the Ignition-Off Draw fuse. Doing that however disables the entire instrument cluster, PCM, etc etc so I wouldn't advise LOL.

From what I gather out of the manual you can stop the key in ignition chime (without pullin a fuse) by doing the following...

Disable the door ajar switch sense circuit from the instrument cluster

or

Disable the key-in ignition switch sense circuit connector from the instrument cluster connector

What i see is cut the wire at the ignition switch (G26) and that would disable the continuious chime. The door ajar would probably do the same thing. This is all hardwired so there isn't a work around such as re-programing the PCM.

The schematic is 8W-10-26.

HARD WIRED INPUTS
The hard wired inputs to the EMIC include the following:
² Brake Lamp Switch Output
² Driver Cylinder Lock Switch Sense
² Driver Door Ajar Switch Sens² Driver Door Lock Switch MUX - with
Power Locks
² Fused B(+) - Ignition-Off Draw
² Fused B(+) - Power Lock Feed - with Power
Locks
² Fused Ignition Switch Output (Accessory-
Run)
² Fused Ignition Switch Output (Off-Run-
Start)
² Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run-Start)
² Headlamp Dimmer Switch MUX
² Headlamp Switch MUX
² Horn Relay Control

² Key-In Ignition Switch Sense (G26)
Left Rear Door Ajar Switch Sense
² Panel Lamps Dimmer Switch Signal
² Park Brake Switch Sense
² Passenger Door Ajar Switch Sense
² Passenger Door Lock Switch MUX - with
Power Locks
² Radio Control MUX
² Right Rear Door Ajar Switch Sense
² RKE Supply - with RKE
² Seat Belt Switch Sense
² Transmission Range Sensor MUX - with
Auto Trans
² Turn/Hazard Switch MUX
² Washer/Beam Select Switch MUX
² Wiper Switch MUX

haha very true. So, I vote that Greg becomes our first guinea pig.

If you do it I'll do it (if in fact it works)

I would in a heart beat but unfortunately I am 12 time zones from my beloved truck. I have had the old girl since new, it certainly wouldn't be the first wire I have cut. I am a little amazed I haven't fired the airbag yet screwing with everything. lol
