Default Exhaust Pipe?

Hey, I have a 2007 1500 RAM 5.7 HEMI and I was looking underneath it today and noticed that after the stock muffler there is another "muffler type" looking thing, it is about the size of a flowmaster... so it comes out of the stock muffler then the pipe goes into this thing and then goes out the back. so my question is does anyone know what this is?.

Its the resonator. Helps reduce even more unwanted noise and cabin drone.

With the stock muffler, probably not much. The stock exhaust setup is pretty restrictive and quiet. If you'd like a nice free flowing great sounding muffler setup, I'd recommend replacing the factory "Y" pipe (the pipe joining the two cat pipes together into a single exhaust pipe) with a Magnaflow "Y" pipe. Then have your resonator and stock muffler removed and replaced with a CherryBomb muffler. Either dump the exhaust right after the muffler or extend it with a new tailpipe.

Not to my knowledge. If you'd perfer something more deep I'd say get a magnaflow then.

If you click here and go to post 33, you'll get an idea of what the Mag sounds like

Not sure about the 03, but my 04 had one. Also, the MDS didnt come until 06.

Did you buy your 03 brand new? It's possible a previous owner had it removed.
