Keep in mind when trying to break that shaft loose on the clutch fan that you need to spin it COUTNER CLOCKWISE.

I always do what was said before and place a screwdrivers in a hole in the water pump pulley to jam it and put a big wrench on the shaft and wack it with a hammer to break it loose.

Josh - as for wiring an e fan, its not the fan that needs the wiring but rather the controller you are going to use.

On mine I am using a Hayden controller. There is a red (+) and yellow (+) wire with a black (-) wire. There is a green (AC) and I think a blue wire (2nd fan) I didnt use and then other wire which was an orange I think went to the low speed of the fan

Do you have to use a controller or can you just use Adjustable thermostat, A/C Relay and manual switch connection? Any draw backs to having it come on all the time and ditching the switch?

I used the same controller that weed is talking about, adjustable from 140 to 190. I did not use the AC interface wire(green) nor did I use the second fan wire(blue) hooked the orange to my low speed wire, 2 ground wires to the ground at the battery a hot(red to the positive battery terminal. the tricky wire was the yellow which is connected to a hot wire controlled by the key, so the fan shuts off when the key does. this is an option, you can hook it to a hot wire that is always on and the fan will shut off when cool. I did not want this so i found a extra port in fusebox that was hot only with the key on. I plugged yellow wire here and it worked well. then just adjust thermostat to the temp I wanted and good to go!!

Hammer I used a pc of wood with a bolt in it to hold the WP pulley wedged it against the ground and it came right loose. Thanks again for your help!

You can use a switch and relay but if you ever forget to turn it on you might be in trouble. Believe me, it happens.

The controllers you can get can go from a set temp controller to an adjustable temp controller

Where did you end up mounting the controller? I like that it would be going off with the key being off.

Here are some pics of mine. I tied my red and yellow together to the post on the fuse box for constant power so it will stay running after the engine if off and continue to cool the rad and engine.

More pics can be see here

I thought about that, but figured if it ever messed up and didnt shut it self off it would be a way to save my battery.... slim chance i guess. Plus I dont like hearing it run when the truck is off

I used a switched relay for my fan as well, especially with my 180* thermostat I'm not too worried about excessive heat after I shut my truck off. Residual may climb 10-15* which only puts my engine temp where the stock thermostat would have had it anyway.

No problem SMKNRAM, I used two bolts in my piece of 2x4, still have it standing up against the wall in the corner of the garage as a matter of fact. Never know when you might need the use of a home made tool again...
