Default Got quoted on Terra Grapplers (2,000th post!)

Went to Town Fair the other day and they said 285/70/17 Terra Grapplers run about $750 with putting the tires on included. They also said if I find a better deal, because I said I have been looking online, that if I find a better deal online, I can bring it in and they will match it. Does $750 sound like a good deal? Of course I will try to find a lower price. I have found them at 182/tire = $728 so far.

And this is my 2,000th post!

That's about right. I paid just under a grand for the 4 295/70/17's I got. I also bucked up a little more for the tire certificates for warranty at discount tire.

How exactly does the warranty on tires work?

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoCertificate.dos

It covers it if the tire is defective in any way. They will also replace it if the sidewall blows out or becomes punctured in any way free of charge.

Also, I'm going to want to reprogram my speedo, should I just go to the dealership and have someone come out and do it real quick with a superchip?

I have thought about investing in one, the question is which one, but it will have to take some looking into. I think I would get one before I get the tires on, which would make more sense.

not all the time. They can ask for the tire to be returned to them for inspections which costs YOU money out of pocket to send it back as they don';t cover that. Also, if you use your warranty to replace a tire, you must buy another warranty to cover the newer tire. kinda ridiculous if you ask me. That's like buying an amplifier online that comes with a 1yr warranty and at the 11th month the amp blows and get a replacement that would only have 1month left instead of the full year on the new one.

Also, if you have a manufacturers related issue and they warranty/pro-rate the tire, you must buy yet another warranty to cover the newer tire because they are not transferrable like that.
The waranty for all my tires was like $80. I'd rather take another $80 and have a new spare. This way the manufacturers warranty is good for a pro rate. I've driven over 1 million miles and haven't had one blow-out. Only nails/screw type stuff thats an easy patch.

Props for the local place tryin to match online whole sale pricing. I have yet to find anyone around where i live to even come remotely close to online pricing! They just don't budge around here. Fine with me. That's why I am an online shopoholic NY prices suck. i suppose i can thank everyone up the chain for that.

I bought Michelins for my wife's Suburban and did the road hazard warranty. She got some kind of screw in the sidewall, and they replaced the tire because it could not be patched. And yes, we did have to buy another road hazard warranty. But hey, better than buying a new tire.
