Questions on 3" lift kit for 2wd Dodge Ram
I looking to lift my 2004 1500 3" and put some 33"s on it. I got a great deal on the tires, but Im a little worried about rims. Its says to have 4.5" bs on the wheels. What is th bs on the factory wheel? Can I use it on the 3" kit? If not what about putting spacers in, would that work? Any info would be great.
welcome to the forum man, you will find all sorts of helpful tip and tricks here, and a lot of guys that would love to tell you what to spend your money on haha.
spacers would work definitely, if you want a pretty accurate answer from these guys you need to post what size rims your talking about. they come in 17 and 20 from the factory. also keep in mind your going to want to get new shocks with that lift. is it a body lift or a 3" suspension lift?

As far as I know NONE of the factory rims came with 4.5" backspacing. You will need either an aftermarket rim or to put spacers on. oefootball will be getting rid of his he has that let him ride with a 6" lift on factory rims. He could probably tell you better on what brand would be good if you want to run factory rims.
if you are wanting to run the 3" spindle lift with 17's you need that 4.5" backspacing. stock 17's have 5" of bs, thats too much. the inside of your rim wont clear the new spindle. so its either new rims, or spacers for you along with that lift. same thing has been holding me back on spindles. i dont want to do spacers, but dont have enough $$ for new wheels.
stock tires on 2wd are 265/70-17 which are 31.5". check out nittos site on inflated sizes, pretty good info

Another note for the rough country 3" lift. Just a thought. They don't use a spindle to get the 3 inches on the front, they use a spring so your factory spindle, etc. should be intact. The only thing you would probably have to worry about is getting too wide a tire on there and rubbing the upper arm since the kit is calling for a 12.5" tire I believe that may be the thought process for RC. If you go with something like an 11 to 11.5" wide tire you should be fine but don't quote me on that. I'm just throwing ideas out there for you. I'm running a 295/70/17 tire with their 2" kit and I have plenty of room. It's right around 33.5".
