Default ODD!!! Now have the Hemi tick...

So I changed my oil today and fired the truck up and low and behold......The Hemi tick!!!! I bought the 05 Quad cab about 6 months ago and the owner said the oil was near due. The truck sounded great and no ticking was present. Maybe the old fella used an oil additive?? I changed and used mobil and now the thing ticks like a bastard. Its almost like the ticking goes away with old oil or when the viscosity breaks down...... Just a thought. Too bad because I read so many threads on the infamous tick and at 110000 miles was very impressed I had none...what cha gonna do??

Lols feejay haha

'The Tick" does suck don't it? Mine only seems to be its worse when its first started up and going. After a mile or 2, it clears up, still annoying as hell for those couple miles though.

I know its not exhaust because when I start the truck it is quiet until it idles down and then the ticking begins. You can hear it through the front wheel well. After I drive for a few minutes it goes away.

Did the previous owner use conventional or a thicker visosity oil? A thinner viscosity oil or a synthetic with much less resistance will cause the "tick" to be more apparent. I have the tick, had it just about since I bought it new. I used Mobil 1 religiously and given the choice between a slightly louder tick vs. the added protection of a true synthetic, I can live with the tick.
Funny thing for me though, is about 2 years ago I switched to Royal Purple, by all accounts and testing, a lower resistance and superior oil to Mobil 1, and my tick, although still present, has been noticeably quieter.

He had to have used a thicker oil in my opinion. I have no way of finding out but I am sure thats the case.
