Need Shock assist plz!
A year ago i leveled my truck and put 20's with 33's and now it sucks! Im sure my shocks are toasted seems how they are still OEM and i have 47000 miles on my truck now. I also pull a 5th wheel to my jobsites when the weather permits. Everyone that even rides in my truck comments on how rough the ride is. Anyways, Im looking for shocks and i was leaning twords Bilstiens but a web site is offering(dunno if i can post link here?!) The Rancho 9000xl's for $329 and a free wireless remote. Is that just more stuff that can break? Are they good smooth shocks? I dunno what to do. Any advice is a ton of help! Thanks.
Ive 'heard that if you can't go with the Bilsteins, then the 9000's are the next best choice. Found that out from some thread while searching around the forum. Im only repeating it cause it came from Hammer, haha. Anyone can hear anything, but I go by what the old guy says
Anything is better than the OEM shocks. After reading a few threads on here I changed mine to a cheap replacement. They are cheap but I noticed a huge difference in the ride as soon as I changed them out. Hopefully some day I can get something better but I am happy with it for now.
I dont think putting 20s with 33s on hurt you. Most trucks come with those stock. But Im sure with your mileage they are just worn out and needed replacing anyway. Bilstein does make some good ones though
50k on mine there going bye bye on monday found a garage to do it for 200$ plus r/r a cat back flowmaster 50 series.to boot. not a bad price seeing as it's that or the driveway and that does not look pretty here in ct!

So i called tomgunz to see why they havnt arrived yet and they told me UPS lost a 2 pallets full of Billstiens and the new shipment would get there friday ( they think someone @ UPS stold them) but anyways asked about a different color shock boot and they said they all cut thiers off because they just hold the dirt in the shock. Same for the steering stabalizer. So asking what you guys all do. Thanks.
dunno never had dirt on my dirt bike front shocks Probably full of sh4T. Gettig mine done on wednesday I'm a bit confused...why would it ride rough? should be like a boat with worn shocks. A stiff ride usually brought on by suspension and the difference from sprung and unsprung weight, I learned that years ago with the suzuki samaurai. that was a rough riding little whatever it really was. not really worth mention here as a matter of fact.
I originally tried to purchase the Bilsteins last year...twice, but no luck. Two different places (one recommended here often) took my order then after a week of waiting for shipping info, told me they didnt have them in stock.
So, I came across the Rancho 9000's and their offer with the MyRide wireless thing. I got the set for just hair over $300 and the controller.
I love the 9000 shocks..I find myself adjusting almost daily depending on my mood, my passengers or whatever I have in the bed. They really are great when you can stiffen up the rear a little when you have some extra weight back there. Mostly during the week, I keep them really stiff like a truck should feel. Then on the weekends, I loosen them up so I dont rattle the wife's teeth..haha.
