People With Magnaflow Catbacks
Have you noticed a loss of lowend torque...there dyno sheet shows a complete loss...thays why I am attracted to Gibson...Just wondering what your experiences are,I know most of you like them.
Almost ALL catbacks are gonna provide similar power outputs. I'd be surprised if there was a vast difference.
I just checked out all their Dyno Charts HERE and not one shows a loss above 3700rpms. they don't show any lower. Can you provide a link for the dyno graph you were looking at?
Any free flowing exhaust will produce a little less ouptut down low, but once it gets into the power band, then the power surges right up. Same goes with cams. You generally loose up high to gain down low or loose down low to gain up high.
I did NOT notice much difference when i instaled my catback. And if Gibson doesn't show their dyno charts, then maybe they are hiding something??? But again, I'd be surprised if there was more than a 5hp difference between all of the catbacks out there for our trucks.

Although getting the truck breathing better results in nice high end and mid range gains, it really doesn't do anything for the low end, but a loss in backpressure (which is actually inefficiency) does cause the torque curve to move up the RPM range a little resulting in a "felt" loss of power down low.
One thing I find is that with no real gains down low and substantial mid/high gains, your "BUTT DYNO" often reads a low end loss of power.
You'll find the natural progression after CAI, Hi-Flows, Cat-Back and Headers is usually a cam with a fairly aggressive low end torque grind (what I am working towards incidentally). You'll have the best of both worlds...

I lost no low end torque with mine. Gains some power up top and it sounds great. The torque converter is loose enough that you rarely see below 2000rpm when accelerating anyway. On the highway, mine will still accelerate nicely without kicking out of 5th gear. Plenty of torque.
Just got my magnaflow muffler this morning, we will see if there is any performance difference between the flowmaster I am currently running and the magnaflow when I change the muffler out.
