Default Dislike New Exhaust

Okay as some of you might know when i first got on DF's i had put a dual exhaust straight piped from the cats back with 3 inch pipe and dual flowmasters 40?? It sounded great...

Then they wrecked into me and bashed my system.

Today i installed the same set up with an X pIpe and dual FM 40 on a 2.25 pipe. It sounds okay but nothing like before.

I was really dissapointed in the sound.

Anyone know why the sound is so low.

Monday i will post the sounds before and after and then you guys can hear the diffrence??

Do the new pipes exit and point in the same direction as the first set? Diameter of the pipes also make a difference. Man, I hate re-doing things....
good luck

My old exhaust came straight out and now my new one comes out slanted towards each side of the rear bumper..

Small changes make a difference. I quess you either live with what you have or redo them. My dual outlet (2-1/2") FM 50 point straight out the back SRT style. I like them, loud at WOT, but quiet down when crusing.

Today i was checking out my new exhaust under my truck and it looks like tyhe guy used 2.5 inch pipr from the cats back to the mufflers and then 2in or 2.5 inch out of the mufflers to the tips.

Does this sound right to any of you?

I do. It's what he had in stock or he felt better running the pipe inside the muffler rather than outside assuming he welded the fm in the first place. the diff dia. and the dump area are both the cause and effect of the diff sound. Cheer up if you tow any thing who would want exhaust gasses spewing out over hyour tow package. I tow a harley fat bob ,I'll be damned if I gotta wash the thing when I get where I'm going cuz It's full of soot. Yes gas jobs do have soot. anything that burns has some degree of soot.
