recently just installed a velocity intake on my 05 ram, and i love it except it's really ****ing loud. it sounds like there is a vacume under my hood, and i can really hear it sucking when i step down on the break or i'm idleing. if i'm floorin it my exhaust makes it so i can't hear it though. is this normal? or did i install it wrong?
That's just the way it is, mine is extremely loud. To the point if I have it up around 3k rpm's you can't even talk to someone in the cab and hear them, you'll get used to it.
thats just the way it is...think about how big the sewer pipe is its what 3.5-4" big... mine was super loud at first cause it was new and a new sound...6mths later i dont even know its there...i got used to it...i like it in the morning when she's cold she sucks loud....made my exhaust deeper....i love mine....
My buddy was telling me about some intake that you can buy a hood that goes with it. He has a 05 or so but anyone know what he was talking bout? and is this velocity intake give more HP than a K&N?

The velocity is just the same as every other CAI setup out there, it's just a filter stuck on a pipe. That's why I made mine out of chitter pipe to save some money instead of paying K&N $350. The only ones that are any different and would give any more of a gain would be the BFI or Vararam.
You could rap it with insulated pipe tape that would lower the sound out put, but why would you do that? I love mine and beleave me you'll get use to it.
