Default question about new CAI

recently just installed a velocity intake on my 05 ram, and i love it except it's really ****ing loud. it sounds like there is a vacume under my hood, and i can really hear it sucking when i step down on the break or i'm idleing. if i'm floorin it my exhaust makes it so i can't hear it though. is this normal? or did i install it wrong?

That's just the way it is, mine is extremely loud. To the point if I have it up around 3k rpm's you can't even talk to someone in the cab and hear them, you'll get used to it.

You are going from a restrictive intake to an open or less restrictive intake, thats how they are.

My buddy was telling me about some intake that you can buy a hood that goes with it. He has a 05 or so but anyone know what he was talking bout? and is this velocity intake give more HP than a K&N?

The velocity is just the same as every other CAI setup out there, it's just a filter stuck on a pipe. That's why I made mine out of chitter pipe to save some money instead of paying K&N $350. The only ones that are any different and would give any more of a gain would be the BFI or Vararam.

You could rap it with insulated pipe tape that would lower the sound out put, but why would you do that? I love mine and beleave me you'll get use to it.

The "Hemi Hat" is basically a muffler for the intake. Same as adding an aftermarket exhaust, more flow usually equals more audible volume....
