Don't know your state laws, but here you are allowed a 4 inch strip in the front regardless of shade, but no tint at all below that. Radar detector are legal here, but your just asking for a ticket when we see you are running one. Look at it this way...why else would you have a RD if your not speeding?

Why the hell are you tinting your windshield for??? Eyebrows I can understand but seriously the whole windshield... Is that the cool thing? Dam I have a hard time enough seeing out the side mirrors at night. And another thing.. I have had my share of tint tickets for my side windows, everytime the state police tell me they cannot see me. So I can understand the point and if people I know cry bout getting a tint ticket I just laugh and say, uhh dont you ever watch cops or shows where cops have a shootout with the passengers! There job is hard enough, I dont want to **** em off anymore...

Short answer - yes. Most radar detectors don't let you know a cop is there until he/she already obtains your speed, and by then it's too late anyway. Save your money. It's pretty much at a 100% chance you will get a cite if you have a radar detector in plain view on a TS.

I haven't gotten a traffic/moving infraction for almost twenty years now - in spite of routine check stops and such. I've found that when I get pulled over, it helps to be polite, and allow the enforcement officer the time he or she needs to do their job. The sooner (read: less of a bother I can be) they move on from my visit, the sooner they can move on to the next guy who may be doing something that is truly putting others safety in jeopardy.

Look on your windshield, there is a marking called the AS1 line. If your brow or any other kind of visor is below that line (in Kansas for sure not sure bout other states) it's considered illegal. If your just a hair below you can get by with it unless your a d-bag about it, but 8" is WAY below that line and I can see why your gettin so much chit for it.

2008dodgeram you'd be 2 inches below the AS1 line, seeing as the AS1 line is the top six inches of your windshield. The windshield at 40% probably catches the attention and upon further inspection they probably notice the 2.5% tint is too far down.

I always hear about people saying that they get pulled over because they have a done up car/truck and I think it's absolute crap!

Ever since I've got my truck painted I notice less police attention than I ever have. I have HIDs, loud exhaust, tinted windows and a loud stereo on top of the paint. I think it's a lot more to do with your driving habits than it does with what you're driving.
