I am new Just saying whats up.My name is Brett, I have 03 Ram 4.7 got a K&N CAI arriving tomorrow and am thinking about a super chip Cortex but maybe the 3865 flashpaq. Its cheaper and does about the same #@$^ . Also wanted to know .. Throttle Body Spacer. Airraid makes one its 140 bucks... Is it worth it ?

 

welcome. that throttle body spacer works really really well. that is if you like really expensive paper weights. you could hold down all kinds of paper with it. other than that, no performance gains, just an annoying whistle sound.

 

Well thats always good to know before I wasted my money. Thanks for the heads up, I will skip the Throttle body spacer and just go with the superchip

 

having an 03 you can get the last superchips model because the new one doesn't do anything new for us 03's and you can get them used for fairly cheap

 

Irelandsram....how do you do that quote thing.....Your right... but be careful, I got a used 3714 (original) for 125 CAD and really loved it until one day 3 months in, it jammed on me doing a Tow tune (I was the 3rd owner) and VINLOCKED. The fellows at Superchips helped me out big time by giving me a generous 150 USA credit (special offer at the time) for trading up to the new 3865. Did have to go to the dealer for a re-flash first to make sure and the fellow there said that my truck was issued the latest dodge updates since 03 (improved shifting). Not sure if that helped (can't tell) but the new tuner works fine, except for not having the ability to up the shifts I want past 5800 stock on WOTso I have to go manual if I want 6000. The dealer called about 3 months later to tell me I was do for service, I laughed and said thanks for the reflash but please take me out of your system. I am a proud owner of an expensive Helix TBS paperweight which was my first and last bad mod waste of dough..(repeat)and I sure wish I had the Forum back then. to warn me off. been thinking about Mopar CAI (comes with a spacer) thats why I am hesitant..but thats another topic... Just hope I haven't killed yet another post.

Welcome to DF Superchips are good TB spacer is bad!!

 

I like my SC3865 tuner, it pick up the old girl. Have you done the TMR mod or Hot wire mod. Both are free. I haven't done the Hot wire, but the TMR works.
