5100's are an adjustable coil-over setup and as far as I know are unavailable for anything before 2006. HD's will do just fine.

The Heavy Dutys are a little bit softer than the 5100s, so they're better suited for daily driving. A lot of people do run the 5100s on daily drivers and are very happy with the stiffer ride, but like timp1510 said, there aren't any 5100s for the 02-05 models. What year is your truck?

my dad has the 5100's on his f-350, with dual front shocks so 6 total. the thing is stiff but its very solid. I'd say get them because they are very good.

not quite sure where people are finding that the 5100s are rougher than HDs lol. from the suspension world, 5100s are a nice PERFORMANCE shock that will give you a relativly nice ride. now stock piling 2 or 3 sets on an axle will constitute a rough ride because theyre not designed nor valved for dual applications. it a single setup shock. the HD (blue and yellow) are your basic replacement shock and are known to ride pretty stiff...so if you have the option of either or....5100s hands down! no questions asked or any dispute. they are a performance shock and you will be happy with them.

Gee that's funny MM, according to Bilstein, the HD shocks are a direct replacement for OE shocks in most large sedans, SUVs and light trucks. They offer exceptional street performance and are NOT recommended for anyone who tows, hauls regularly and for only occasional off-road use.

The 5100s by contrast, are a HIGHLY PRESSURIZED shock featuring stiffer compression and are only recommended for those running larger diameter tires than stock.

But what do they know over you? They only make the fu*kers!!!

calm yourself hammer lol. the HDs are a direct replacement just as you said. the 5100s are the "performance" scale which i guess as you say are for larger tires....guess its different if youre running stock.
