Level Kit questions
I'm planning on a daystar 2" leveling kit for my 07 ram 1500 2wd QC, but i here 2" isn't always enough to level the truck, so is there a 2.5" kit that i could get?. i will also be getting pro comp es9000 front shocks to work with the leveling kit, but if i replace the front shocks do i have to do the backs also or can i leave them factory?. then ill throw some BFG all-terrains T/A KO 285/65R20 tires on the truck, w/ the STOCK 20" rims due to lack of funds to buy new rims. Will all of this work together? am i missing anything vital that needs to be replaced if i get the level kit? are the daystar spacers good quality? just some basic questions, thanks guys

My 2004 has the 2" Daystar. My sig pic shows it and I am attching a pic I took today so see for yourself. I also have Monroe shocks (cheap) front and back that were added before the leveling kit. You will need an alignment after you do the level. 4 Wheel Parts tried to sell me a part they said I needed to get the alignment right but I went to another shop for the alignment and it speced out perfectly.

so did you get longer shocks to accomodate the leveling kit?
thanks thats all i needed, and im gonna hope the tires fit cuz they did for someone else's truck, they just had 18" rims instead of 20, but the tread width/height was the same and they had the 2" kit. Yah i'll just replace all 4 shocks. are you happy with your shocks?
also, how much was ur magnaflow system?

Very noticeable difference from the OEM's. The Monroe's were cheap and all I could afford at the time but I hope to swap them out this year. No matter what you put on they will be better than the OEM shocks. Make sure you get that alignment after the level kit. Are you installing it yourself?
Ps, you will need 2" longer shocks. The exhaust was done a few years ago. I think it was about $400 installed but I really can't remember.

I do ALL of my car work, so I'm gonna do the leveling kit/shocks myself...unless it's really difficult. how hard is it to install? I was about to replace the front struts on my bimmer and i read some DIYs and it seemed quite simple, but then i crashed it so i just bought another bmw that didnt need new struts haha. then i got tired of slowing down for every single bump on the road so i got my ram

i determined to get a 2" level by measuring from the bottom center of my front wheel to the center of my fender. then take the same measurement of the rear wheel/fender. the difference will tell you how much you need to bring the front up. The difference for my truck was two inches so i went with a 2" level kit from topguncustomz. nice thing about there kit is you dont need replacement shocks, its just a spacer that fits on top of the strut assembly. sorry for the long post but i hope it helps

Blake, I did not do the spacers myself but 4wheelparts gave me a good deal on the labor. I didn't want to mess with the coil spring. Those things will bite you if you aren't careful. LOL I did install my shocks. They were a piece of cake as long as you have air tools. I like the BMW story, why replace parts when you can just buy another one???

It's hard to say for sure what you will need. I put a 2.5" spacer on my '05 and it leveled it out perfectly. Others have put 2" spacers on their trucks and said that they had to put blocks in the rear because the front was higher after the level. My guess is that there are slight differences in the suspensions on some of the different years so the spacers affect it differently. It looks like RamGentry13 has the same year truck and used the 2" spacer so that's probably what you need. As far as longer shocks, drive a bit after you level it and see how it feels. Some people claim on the 06-08 Rams you don't need longer shocks. I put longer ones on my '05. I just bought the front shocks for an '05 2500 and they are 2" longer than the 1500.
As far as how hard it is...if you do all the other work on your vehicles it's not that hard. The hardest part is getting the spindle disconnected from the upper control arm. Use a pickle fork or a pitman arm puller to get that off. And then getting the spring back in with the spacer on top is probably the second hardest part. But you can certainly do the job with regular old hand tools. I did it by myself. I did rent a coil spring compressor from Advance Auto.

Some long posts in this one, lol. I didnt read through all of them, nor can I speak for a 2wd, BUT.... my HBS 2in level did not level the truck out. Still a 1in difference between the front and back. I also did not replace the shocks for longer ones, and have been told that may be the problem.
As far as installation, if IIII can do it, any damn body can.
