It just dawned on me, that a couple of weeks ago, we had a several bad snow storms one after the other. After one of these snow storms, the snow was packed down and became icy, which was very slippery.

One day as I was driving the truck slid sideways, and the Front Drivers side wheel struck the curb REALLY hard. I got out, checked, and saw the apparent damage, so i figured all was well.

Now I am thinking, that all of the damage was probably done to the wheel and its components.

One other thing, as i was driving tonight i noticed another thing. At 30 MPH when turning Left, I hear a "whomp, whomp, whomp, whomp" type sound which more or less sounds like a helicopter hovering...I want to make sure that i am getting the correct thing fixed. Is this the Hub bearing which is damaged or some other component?

Thanks in advance.
Generally a bad bearing will make noise when you put pressure on it, not take pressure off of it. Turning right would cause bearing noise if your driver side bearing is bad. The noise you are experiencing could be related or could be an additional problem?
Understanding one anothers ideas of noise is very difficult to narrow any one specific thing down. You could describe a whomp noise and i may consider it to be something completely different.
However, if the noise sounds rotational like a driveshaft out of balance, then you may have an issue with your CV shaft. Good thing is that replacing the bearing you can get a close look at it and check it out.

Hitting the curb could have caused more damaged than you can see with your eye. if the steering wheel was jerked from your hands(meaning the curb caused the wheel to turn flush against the curb due to force and pressure) it's likely that your outer and possibly your inner tie-rod end could be bent on that side??? I'd take a real close look at them.

Because you just brought it to light that you may have damaged a front end component, a visual inspection would be a must, with the front lifted off the ground. If you are "bringing it" to a mechanic to be fixed as you've insinuated, then the mechanic would be able to tell you what needs replacing. We can only hazard half a$$ed guesses without seeing it and manually turining the wheels...

Also have tire checked. Whomp whomp could indicate a belt problem as well.

if you want, jack up the front end and check your ball joints and tie rods. search google for some instructions how its easy. you should feel some play if the bearing is real bad

I'm getting ready to replace both front bearings too. I've got rear ABS only. The supplier says one side on the front apparently has an ABS sensor in it. Which side is it? or is he blowing smoke? I've not been able to climb under the truck since it's been raining. Thanks!

I'm not sure what side it would be on, but all you need to do is peek in the front wheelwells and look for a kinda big black wire held in place with clips that will sort of look like it is coming from behind your wheel. The wire will run to up and behind the wheel well.

If you only have rear ABS then neither front hub has a sensor. I've replaced non sensor hubs with ones with sensors because I've found them cheaper. Just cut the wire off.
