Default the power of a 4.7

Some of you may know about my recent run ins with the law. I have a story to share BUT its an old one(so dont lecture me). I havent done any street racing in a while....ok so heres the story. I have a single cab 1500 4.7 with most of my mods listed in my sig.....i wont tell them all . I raced a friend of mine who has a 2004 chevy silverado 5.3 2 door with i think 3.73 gears?? I absolutely left him off the line and just kept pulling on him. We did this a few times but with the same outcome. We also tried from a 60 roll. He faired better from 60 but still......basically i wanna know how would a stock 4.7 do? my truck has never been stock....i bought it used with some goodies. Im not ragging on chevy or anything I just want to know If the progress I have made with my truck has been indeed progress.

Rick, sounds like you need someone with a bone stock 4.7 to go to the strip with. Or if you can find a suitable truck on a lot that you can test drive, maybe you could use your SC and do some data logging. Just thinking out loud...

My main reason for posting this is that I hear 4.7's are pathetic in stock form.....I just dont see it. Ive read a 17.8 is what they do in the quarter!

Just imagine if you had the 08+ 4.7 But as for the story, love it. I'm still waiting to pull up next to a 3rd gen stock hemi to see how I fair

Other than that, I'd say from my personal butt dyno, what you've done has been progress

well, pathetic is pretty harsh, I think all of the stone stock engines coming from the factory have the potential of performing at a much higher level with a little modification and some love from their owners.

I dont think they are pathetic at all...im just relaying what I have read. I got the times from a old online add from dodge. 17.8 at 77mph. Im hoping that with some tlc and a lot of $$$$$$ my truck will be hitting 14's. I may go the sts turbo route.....thoughts or inputs on that???

Good we are both on the same page then, because I think your truck is damn quick. However keep in mind these trucks were not ment to be racers. But they do perform at a level that surprises most folks. And your goals are reasonable with the right modification. All the hype whipple charger gets I would like someone to spend a truck load of money and develop a kit for our dodges.

actually you can put a whipple on the 4.7. Get intake adapter plates and you can put a cobra whipple on it

I recently did a little web searching and couldn't find anything for the hemi. I think the whipple design has some real advantages over the others, Still the 03 is an orphan.
