Default 3rd Gen CB/Ham Radio Mounts

I have perfected the 3 Gen CB/Ham Radio mounts for the Automatic & Manual Transmissions. I have a couple of different models:

Narrow mount (7" wide) for CB/Ham Radio only. I have one design for the manual trans and another one for a 2WD Auto, or a Auto w/4x4 but with electronic transfer case. $60 delivered to your from door in the lower 48.

Wide mount (11" wide) for CB/Ham Radio and Linear/amp, GPS, Satellite Radio, mobile phone, etc. The wide mount is for the 2WD Auto Trans or Autos w/4x4 but with electronic transfer case. $65 deliver to your front door in the lower 48.

These are made out of 10 gauge steel and are powdercoated black. They mount under the center of the front seat and you still have access to the handle for the lower storage compartment in the seat.

I must mention, if you have a big radio, you may have to mount the bottom 1/2 of the case of the radio to the CB/Ham mount first, then attach the radio, then an external speaker will be required.

Here is a picture of one:

Hey, can you tell me about CB's/Ham radios? I was looking at a few at Radio Shack, i guess i was looking for another toy. I know their basically like walkie talkie's, but you can communicate at longer distances. but aside from that, what else.
Any input will be good. Thanks

Most all of your trucker (18 wheelers) use them for weather, traffic, road and Smokey reports and just casual BSing. There are many brands and models to choose and type. Export radios are illegal in the US for Citizen Band radio because of the high wattage they transmit, however many use them. Normal CB's are 4 watts and sideband is 12 watts.

I use mine mainly for what I stated above and then also for Bombvoys (convoys) with others, mainly to truck events. It makes the trip alot shorter and a lot of fun.

Ham radio's are a higher wattage like the export radios and you need to have a Ham Radio Operators license to operate legally. I am not a Ham, so maybe someone else might chime in here.

I know i have alot of questions, but that's the only way to learn. What is a Export radio? You explained the difference between a CB and Ham radio. Does the Ham Radio look like a CB radio? What about the Export radio? Does it look like a export radio? Do you know if they carry them at Radio Shack?

I wouldn't mess with the Radio Shack ones. Unless you just really want to get out there a Cobra 29Classic is the best way to go. I bought mine about 8 years ago used from a radio shop and it still works great today. It was peaked and tuned and has an echo board added to it and every one thinks it's a Gallaxy. Gallaxy and Connex are top of the line with the Gallaxy 88 and the Connex 3300HP being their most popular models. I can talk about 5 miles away here in Arkansas. When I had it on my 18 wheeler in the desert it was nothing to talk 15-20 miles. You really have to spend some big money to much more then that. I paid 75 bucks for mine used and you can get them new for about $100. The Gallexy and Connex are closer to $300 but it's been a while since I've priced one. You would need to violate FCC regulations to do it but you can get amps added to them so you can really get out there. I have heard people 3000 miles away but there is no way my little radio would talk back to them. Your best bet is to find a CB Shop some where close and go see what the have. You can also have them set the SWR's after you get the antenna installed.

I used to drive truck awhile back and must say the CB was my friend. The cell phone has kind of made them unnecessary for the daily driver though. I still have a Harley Davidson CB still in the box. Never got to use that one. Anyone interested in getting a CB Radio PM me. I'll take some pictures and send them to you if you'd like to see it. It has PA, instant wheather, instant channel 9 and more. Sorry if I jacked your thread.
