Actually that ended up being a screw in my tire that must have had at least a 1/2inch head on it lol

Nice. Hopefully a fuse like Afhemi said or maybe fluid.

The box around the indicator wasnt showing up and i had to guess it was in drive just by the clicks. Turns out it was a blown TCM fuse. I was stuck in 3rd gear, hence the huge rpms to get moving (and a LOT of slippage, causing the trans temp to go wayyyy up).

Check the TCM fuse, and the tranny fluid. Come to think of it, you'd have a CEL as well if it was the TCM fuse. Do you have a CEL or any codes?
Yeah the gear indicator light is working and moving with the stick. And no CEL showing up. Come to think of it when i fire it up now there is a slightly noticable high pitch noise coming from the tranny i guess, if that helps diagnose it at all...

You definitely need to drop the tranny pan and check it out. Is the fluid still red or is it dark? Check for metal shavings in it as well. Its very possible you could have fried a clutch pack or two.

The WOT was from a dead stop or were you already moving when you punched it? If so, how fast were you going? If i understand correctly, you cant even drive it now? The more I think about it, the more it seems like you fried 1st and 2nd gears...

Talk to OlDirtyJohn. He just went through this (not the same problem, but fried nonetheless). This may be a good option to upgrade to a Sharadon performance tranny. They dont cost much more than this stock piece of crap and much more reliable. Was there any kind of warranty with you truck? These things suck, but they should last WAY longer than 67k, especially without any real power adders. There are tons of guys running 400+ hp through these trannies without failures

thanks for the help AF. I didnt punch it right off the line cause i didnt wanna burn any rubber, i was going somewhere around 10mph before i punched it, i coulda been goin a little faster though. and ill have to wait till the morning to check the fluid.

My question is if i fried 1st and 2nd gears would reverse not work either? cause it wasnt working for me

EDIT: oh, and no warranty on the truck, i bought it at an auction.

check your fluid before you start driving yourself crazy over this. possibility you leaked some fluid. being low on ATF by just a quart or two will make these trannys do CRAZY things. also, another well knows problem is with the filters. maybe your sump filter came off, and it wont allow the pump to push any fluid. or maybe your gear selector lever came off inside the tranny (happened to another guy on here just a few days ago).

also, did you check your drive shaft? maybe your tranny is just fine, but your drive shaft broke or something. would explain not being able to go anywhere.

maybe your torque converter blew up?

but, if you check your fluid, and it isnt burnt to ****. you may get off pretty easy. you will definitely be able to tell if its burnt up. the smell is unmistakable.

did you throw any codes? P0700 and P0731-P0735 would all be signs of burnt out gears. hopefully you arent getting any of those.
