Default Just got some new 6x9s got a question?

Hello I just installed some alpine type r 6x9s on my 04 ram. Should I have bypassed the factory amp? I just hooked them to the stock connections? I have an infinity system with the 7 speakers and an after market deck. Alpine Ida x305. I guess the infinity amp plays only lows to the 6x9s. In the future I plan to amp them. Did anyone bypassed their factory amps for their aftermarket speakers ? Thanks!

Depends what you want to do. If you want to mantain the factory component system, use the factory amp. If you want them to sound better and play the full spectrum, then bypass the amp. You should really think about getting a new amp for them, and keep the component setup.

that factory amp is not in a very accessable spot from what i've read seems like the easier thing to do is bypass and set up a new one imo

Well, the factory amp doesn't produce that much power. I'm sure your Alpines take 100w rms to start sounding nice. I had Polk DB 6x9's and the difference from 22w rms HU power to 100w amp power was ginormous. Then i compared that to feeding them 150w rms each and OMG. Sooooo freakin loud and clear compared to the slightly muffled and lack of bass at 22w rms.

i don't have the 7 speakers system, but I cheated and caught the wires behind the driver kick panel which would be past the amp for you as well. So catching the wires after the amp is how you would get around all that without even touching the amp itself. Just leave it wherever it is and get on with things...lol
If you need to know what wires are what when and if you do that PM me and I'll hook you up with a link for that.

run new wires in the doors its easy and put the amp under the driver seat and get a nice set of 6 1/2 for the back doors some nice 300 watts trust me you wont regret it the factory amp is in the dash passenger side behind glove box hard to get to the wires faster just running your own wires

its really not that bad getting to those wires. i pulled the glove box back and looked at the harness on the amp and eyed them back to behind the deck. then i unplugged the connector and tested each one for power until i found one to attach to an ignition wire. took about 45min alot easier then running wires but the amp really is cruddy.

So i wired the speakers to an external amp! i wired the 6x9s and 2 type r 6.5 coaxials to an mrp-f300 alpine amp. it sounds clear but i was really surprised that i was getting more bass out of my stock infinitys lol. i didnt use a spacer for the 6x9s and they were not a perfect fit. the 6x9s basket was bigger but i just screwed it in till it was tight. lol. the 6.5 fitted good though. next is 2 12s!
