Mine is 2wd and it does the same thing. The stock shocks are just too soft for the 20" wheel/tire combo. I'm going with these on mine, http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/bst_truck.cfm

Yup, time for new shocks. I used the monroe reflex and couldn't be happier. They're not as stiff as the bils or rancho's but will give a noticable ride and handling improvement over stock. They list them as a strut (coil-over) in the front just incase your wondering, here's the part # 71111ST.
Hope this helps get it fixed up for you

OP, you issue is the strut, I had one bad on mine when I bought it and it only had 30k on it at the time. still under warranty and the dealer and I went round and round about it and they refused to change it. so I said screw them and I got some bilstein HD's from eshocks for about 60 each and changed um. 100 times better. the only differance between the HD's and the 5100's are the color and the fact that the 5100's can raise the front up to 2". I already had a 2.5' leveling kit so I didnt need the 5100's.
It will make a world of differance once you chance them.

Iv owned
02-4.7 2wd
currently own
04-5.7 4wd

hes ownes
02-4.7 4wd

They all do it.

If anyone rides motocross and knows what 'packing' is when youve slowed down the suspension too much, these trucks act a lot like that. The dampening is actually too SLOW so even though the suspension is moving its packing up higher and higher causing a loss of contact with the road...shimmying the truck to one side or the other

bee, i hear you on that one. I had new struts (shocks) installed all the way around under warranty. Problem was the dealership forgot the spacer at the top of struts, the one that sits on the shoulder of the piston rod, so it moved causing a squeak and a clunk. Took it back 3 times and they said it was put together correctly and that it was my tires. (BF's AT,KO's)ROFL. So after market i go. The stockers are about half the physical size of the after markets and are stiff, the factory shock is small and spongy, Clearly under rated for the truck!

I have the rancho quicklift on my truck right now and the struts are excellent. They are the rancho 9000 struts. The quicklift did not level my truck though its off by a 1.5". Tech support told me that it only lifts the front 1.5"-1 3/4" so if you are looking to sit level dont get this kit. I am returning them and i got a 2.5" level kit. As for new struts i liked the rancho 9000s so much i got them again just not with the quicklift. They ride great and can be adjusted for stiffness. I have bilstein 5100s in the back and i cant really tell any difference.

I have Rancho 5000's on the front (still stock on rear) on my '07 w/ 33k miles. I could certainly tell a difference b/w stock and the Rancho's, although it wasn't as much of a difference as I expected.
