3rd generation v/s 4th generation
Nice write-up Ohio. In my opinion, the 3rd generation Ram is and was a better truck for its respective time. When the 3rd generation Ram came out, it made a SPLASH. That's all everyone talked about. I remember being 14 years old and seeing all of those hemi commercials; everybody knew dodge owned the streets at that time. Then the Titan and Tundra came out and took a lot of that hemi ferociousness away. I don't think the new Ram stacks up against the competition against today's truck as the 3rd generation ram did its competitors.
The new rams definitely look sharp in my opinion, but only on a very specific trim packages. If they don't have the 20" wheels, they just look overly boxy; like a milktruck or something. The 3rd gen. could pull of a 17" wheel much better than a 4th generation can. I will say though, I'm finally starting to see a whole bunch of 4th generations sprouting up on the streets so it finally looks like they are gaining some popularity. One thing I don't like is that my brother already has a loose bolt on one of his upper sway bars in the rear..As far as power wise, I was talking stock to stock. I raced my brother with just an exhaust and he had nothing done. I even have a 3.92 rear end while he has a 3.55, and he still wiped me off the floor by over a truck length everytime. Comparing my 3rd gen ram to a 4th gen ram with an F-150 is not some outlandish comparison; like I said, I was in both races and the results were excruciatingly similar.

and one more thing...i think racing trucks, while fun, is dumb if your serious. I didnt buy a truck to blaze the quarter mile, i bought it to tow, haul, and run over chit. Theres many other wwwwaaaayyyy easier ways out there to go fast (and hell, even more economical)
Exactly

They may be similar in both races but definitely not the same as the factors of each race are going to be different from one another. You gotta compare apples to apples not apples to oranges.
There are plenty of other vehicles out there that you can get to go fast at the track or in the street with ease... But where is the fun in that? If you take a vehicle that is not know for going fast and looks like a brick and make it faster than some sport cars you get noticed, and you get lots of looks. Different people like different things, some buy a truck to use it as a truck, some buy them to go off roading, some buy them to go fast. Personally, a fast car serves no purpose to me as I need a truck to use as a truck, but I also like to go fast and lets face it these trucks are not that fast stock, so why not have a fast truck that can still be used as a truck when not at the track?
