How big is the hole? Is it possible to fill the hole with some sort of RTV sealant without looking terrible for now? Your insurance is gonna charge you yor deductible whatever that is and the repair may only cost that much to begin with. I'd get an estimate from somewhere's before reporting that to your insurance.

Must be an installation issue (not that it matters now).

rocket- the tab is probably steel cuz it supports the full weight of the fiberglass cover. and everytime i have opened and closed the cover over the past year it has rubbed against the cab. thats how it wore through the metal.

dirty- yeah i was thinking about that this morning. the hole is only like 1-2 inches across. im gonna go get some estimates from some body shops later this week.

mike- yeah i have always thought the cover was not quite square with the bed but i hadnt had any problems with it so i left it alone. now i wish i would have tried to straighten it out!!!!!

okla- i will go take some pics here in a few minutes and get them on here.

Those kinds of discoveries suck. About an hour ago I was washing my truck and realized that somebody sideswiped my front fender.
