The first thing I thought of when I saw the hole was a dust-cap/plug for a drum-brake adjuster:

Maybe you could clean up the hole a bit and use a rubber cap until/if you get it repaired. Make it look like a "feature" for a future wiring path or something.

Man, that truly sucks. If it were me, before I plugged the hole or RTV'd it, I would look at cleaning it up and getting some kind of rust inhibitor for it to make sure you don't have any possible cancer in the truck because of that. Good luck man.

wow, wouldn't have expected that. that isn't oging to be worth going to insurance for. your deductible will be more than the work is worth. though they are oging to tell you 'we have to paint the whole cab to get it right!'. It's going to be hidden by the toolbox anyway, let them halfass the paint and save yourself the $1000 in labor they may charge if they want to remove the bed.

I kinda doubt insurance will do anything at all, since afterall it was an aftermarket thing added to the truck and it seems to have been installed wrong. That's (in the insurance agencies eye's) your or whoever had the truck before you's screw up not theirs. Just my .02
